Not Knowing God Personally

Do you think that it has been possible that a Christian has lived their entire lives not knowing who God truly is to them? They may have given the knowledge of all the details of the bible and what it intales, but has no reality of having an intimate relationship with God. Wow, can you imagine going through your whole life as a Christian not having a relationship with Father? I would not see the point of living as a Christian without truly knowing God personally. I think that if one only speaks as a Christian who does certain things as a 'Christian should' does not give the spacific details to the importance of what being a Christian is all about.

Absolutely! I lived like that for years and millions still do...

Yes, I agree, religious customes usually can take the place of relationship with Father... There is no substitute in my opinion, that carries more importance than an intimate relationship with the Lord...

Nicole, You know of me and you may find out some detail about me from my profile, but you do not know me.

That what the 'religious' do. They know of God and have tons of facts, but they DO NOt KNOW HIM. They have NEVER met HIM.

I've been a "believer" all my life... as far back as I can remember from my childhood. I mean, even though I didn't have a closeness with God, I'm pretty sure I was saved all along. I guess I kind of thought that God was "out there" somewhere, looking down on His creation, and perhaps there were a few people who were a little closer to Him.

I really do think it's sad that religion has made people see God the way I did for years. There's so much from the Bible about our personal God that isn't taught in churches today, and people who are truly born-again, without truly knowing their God personally. In fact some of those people who don't realize how great their salvation is, and how great the Life inside them is, actually look down upon and mock their brothers and sisters in Christ who have the greater understanding of a personal relationship with God! I was one of those people! Even though I was born again (but didn't really understand it), I thought the 'born-agains' were coocoo! :)

Nicole,
Yes, I do believe it's possible. I lived like that for years too (sadly). And very unfortunately, I believe many people are now.
This is such a heart-wrenching thing.

Although I do not have children, still I can only view it through the lens of parents.

How would it feel for a parent to raise their child knowing all ABOUT them, but really not intimately KNOW them b/c they didn't step over the threshold of really WANTING intimacy and taking the risk to have that intimacy with their son or daughter?

(Unfortunatly, I believe there are many families here on earth living like this today.)

How painful for both the parent(s) and the child. I believe God must "grieve," in a sense, about this very thing.

This is another reason why I believe we have generations of people living not understanding and not KNOWING LOVE.

I thank Papa that desired so much to know Him, and took His hand (when I was a college freshman) of relationship that had been stretched out all along for those years.

My deepest prayer, is that others also will become so sick-and-tired living a monotanous empty life of not knowing truly Father, that they'd come to a place in their hearts where they step out of the Law/Religion/Artificial relationship with God and step into a real, true, intimate one with Father.
